#WeAreIHEDCSD

We are SO excited to be back with our students this week!  We believe that this will be an amazing year celebrating our theme, "Ohana".

Express Check In:
Express Check-In has now reopened for any families who have not completed it. This is required so that we have the correct information for emergency contacts, medical needs, etc. This is also where parents pay school fees. Thank you for completing your check in as soon as possible.

STEM Hikes:
STEM Center for Strength is a non-profit organization to support those who survived the May 7th STEM School shooting in Highlands Ranch. They are offering free hikes for those who may have been impacted to support their healing.

Picture Day:
Picture days are coming! We will be taking school pictures on Wednesday, September 9th for Cohort A and Thursday, September 10th for Cohort B. The flyer to purchase pictures is available above. eLearning students should plan to have pictures taken on these days as well.

Our eLearners are invited to take pictures at the school on Wednesday, September 9th between 1:00 and 3:00pm or Thursday, September 10th between 9:30 and 10:30 am. eLearners will ring the doorbell and will be escorted to the picture area, take their picture, then return to their parents at the front door. Parents/guardians are not allowed in the building. All eLearners and parents must wear masks at all times while on school property.

Lightning Dismissal Procedures 2020-2021 for Parents/Guardians:

**ALL families need to know their child(ren)’s PikMyKid number in case of emergency, whether they are a walker, bus rider, or car line dismissal. These numbers guarantee your child’s safety if we have to dismiss students for a lightning or emergency situation.

We will hold students for a lightning delay until lightning is more than 6 miles away for 30 minutes per the DCSD guidelines.

    • Parents/Guardians have 2 options during a lightning dismissal - Walk Pick Up or Car Line Pick Up. Bus riders will be released to the bus when it is deemed safe to do so.

    • During these dismissals, we do not provide crossing guards within our parking lot, so please use caution.

      • For those who have students labeled as “Walkers” in PikMyKid:

        • Please park your vehicle in the main lot, walk up to the main door and provide your child’s PikMyKid number to the staff member available. Please do not park in the gravel lot.

        • Please socially distance, and wait until a staff member is available to assist you. You must be wearing a mask.

        • You will need to provide your PikMyKid number to the staff members at the door.

        • Your child(ren) will be called down from their classrooms to meet you at the door to be dismissed..

      • For those parents who have students labeled as “Car Line” in PikMyKid:

        • You will “announce” your arrival as you do during a typical dismissal

        • When you are in the pick up lane (along the front sidewalk next to the school) you will leave your car and walk up to the school to enter through the gym door (see the yellow area in the photo below)

          • You will socially distance while you wait for your child to arrive in the gym - masks are required

        • Your child(ren) will proceed to the gym where they will be greeted by a staff member and directed to you.

        • You and your child will leave the gym and return to your car

    • If an emergency contact will be picking up your child, please make sure that they have been added to PikMyKid now. We cannot release any students to anyone not on this list. We also cannot release students to siblings under the age of 18 so please make prior arrangements.

    • Any person picking up a student who does not have the PikMyKid number available will need to wait until we can verify that they have permission to pick the student up - this may take a good amount of time to complete in this circumstance.

    • At 3:50pm, parents will be called for any remaining students to have their child picked up. If parents cannot be reached, emergency contacts will be called.

    • After 3:50pm, parents will pick up their children at the main entrance, showing their PikMyKid tag or information on their cell phone to the staff members at the door.
