Mindfulness Monday:
Well it has been quite the year! We started off with a bang and then we all were hit with a new way of living and learning. Despite COVID-19, we prevailed and made it to summer! Congrats!
Here is a summer send off challenge. Something you can do in the midst of COVID-19 to still spread kindness and make positive changes in another person’s life as well as yours!
We challenge you to do these acts of kindness and bring in your "badges of kindness" next school year. If you choose to participate, use the below ideas and cut them out each time you do that activity. Then make a sash for you to display your "Badges of Kindness".
Are you up for the challenge?
Have a great summer!
This second handout is a family self care guide of activities just for fun :)
Love,
Ms. O’Hara, Ms. Dean, Mrs. Perkins and Ms. Ale

Family Field Day
We’re excited to announce that our school community will still be participating in our regularly scheduled school-wide field day (virtually) on Friday, May 15th.

Although field day will look quite different this year, we think you will still have a blast participating in the fun activities and friendly competitions at home with your loved ones. Field Day is an important tradition at our school. It is a significant day for our students and our staff, and we feel that in these incredibly challenging times this virtual event is a unique way that we can stay connected as a community.

Our virtual field day events are designed to be done indoors or outdoors using common household items. You won’t be asked to purchase any specialized equipment or supplies.

These are the supplies you will need for our virtual field day:
● One or more old pillowcases
● Socks (rolled into balls)
● Paper
● Paper plates or similar flat and light items (like tupperware lids)
● Paper or plastic cups
● Towel
● Laundry basket or cardboard box

Here’s how it will work: On Friday, May 15th we will share a document that contains the 10 field day events you can choose from. You are welcome to do all the events or just choose a few to complete. To allow time for families to participate in the virtual field day there will be no lessons posted this day from classroom teachers.

All Iron Horse staff are encouraged to participate in the events as well. There will be a folder attached to the field day document that will allow you to share photos and or videos of your participation in this event. We will compile the shared videos and photos to create a slideshow we can share with our school community.

We can’t wait to see the photos and videos of you and your family enjoying this event together!
Stay well, Mrs. Perkins
